Liturgy: Nurturing the Soul
Liturgy comes from a Greek word leitourgia meaning public duty.
At OLPH Primary School, our Catholic faith is not just a subject—it is the heartbeat of our community. Through our Liturgy program, we invite students to develop a deep, personal relationship with God, grounding their academic journey in prayer, reflection, and the sacraments.
A Culture of Prayer
True to our school’s unique “Culture of Prayer,” our days begin and end with spiritual reflection. We believe that spiritual grounding provides the moral compass necessary for students to navigate the modern world with integrity.
Our Spiritual Activities:
-
The Holy Mass: Students participate in regular school Masses, where they take active roles as altar servers, readers, and choir members, learning the beauty and traditions of the Catholic Liturgy.
-
Sacramental Preparation: We support our Catholic learners in their journey toward the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Reconciliation.
-
Morning Devotions & Angelus: Daily moments of silence and prayer that foster a “Culture of Silence” and inner peace amidst the busy school day.
-
Liturgical Seasons: We celebrate the richness of the Church calendar together, from the joy of Christmas to the reflection of Lent and the triumph of Easter.
The Choir & Music Ministry
Music is a vital part of our worship. Our Primary School choir leads the congregation in hymns that blend traditional Catholic liturgy with vibrant local melodies, celebrating our Zimbabwean identity through the spirit of Unhu/Ubuntu.
Our Spiritual Mission: To produce graduates who are not only academically brilliant but also spiritually anchored, compassionate, and dedicated to “doing good” (Descite bonum et facere bonum).
