Infants Department: The First Steps of Excellence
Where Curiosity Meets Character
Welcome to the Infants Department at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. We provide a safe, vibrant, and loving environment designed specifically for our youngest learners (ECD A to Grade 2). Here, we believe that every child is a unique miracle, and our mission is to ignite their natural curiosity while grounding them in Catholic values.
Our Approach: The Holistic Foundation
In the Infants section, we focus on the “Total Child” by balancing academic readiness with social, emotional, and physical development.
- Literacy & Numeracy: Using phonics-based reading programs and hands-on “concrete” mathematics to build a strong academic base.
- Social Development: Teaching the “Culture of Greeting” and the “Culture of Sharing,” ensuring our students grow in Unhu/Ubuntu from a tender age.
- Creative Expression: Daily activities in music, art, and storytelling to encourage imagination and confidence.
- Physical Coordination: Structured outdoor play and physical education to develop fine and gross motor skills.
Key Milestones in the Infants Journey
- ECD A & B (Early Childhood Development): Transitioning from home to school through play-based learning and sensory exploration.
- Grade 1: The “Big Step” into formal education, focusing on independent reading and writing.
- Grade 2: Building academic stamina and preparing for the transition into the Junior Department.
A Safe & Nurturing Environment
We understand that safety is a parent’s primary concern. Our Infants Department features:
- Dedicated Play Areas: Safe, age-appropriate equipment where children can explore under constant supervision.
- Specialized Staff: Teachers who are experts in early childhood development and provide the “parental” care our little ones need.
- The Liturgy of the Little Ones: Simple, age-appropriate introductions to prayer and the stories of Jesus and Mary.
Uniform & Requirements
- Smartness: Infants are expected to uphold our “Culture of Smartness.” Please refer to the [Uniform Guide] for specific Infants’ requirements.
- Nutrition: We encourage healthy lunchboxes to sustain energy levels for a full day of learning and play.
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
